It was a weekend so parking was not that easy to get. Then the guys spotted one slot being vacated by a wagon with a woman and maybe her kids. So we went to that direction, turned on our signal lights just to let other cars know, “hey we got here first and we are taking that parking slot”.

I was driving a pickup truck of my uncle so I was a bit slow to maneuver to the parking space. Right when the nose of the truck was there, a Mazda Miata cut me off and too the parking slot. What the… I wanted to ram the car but of course, this is not the movie so I kept my cool. It was a girl, young enough to know that she just had her license. My younger cousins were yapping some of the best cursing stuff I heard for some time. Me, I still wanted to ram the small car but of course I just moved on to look for another available space.

Come on, where did courtesy go? It is 2012 and we are still here and as far I know there is still courtesy in the dictionary of my 8 year old niece. Turn a few pages and you might just see the word etiquette. And there are just people in the world who do not have an idea of these words.

When someone is waiting for a parking spot to be vacated, that means, he or she wants it and if that person got there first, then it is his parking slot. I really do not care if you do not have time to go around the parking lot since everyone is also in a hurry (we got a poker game going on and the smell of barbecue in the air). I do not care if you honk your horns since I am pretty sure my horns are louder than yours. Do not flash me your headlights since I can blind you with mine. We were there first and that is our parking space.

We got owned by a stupid young driver but karma goes around fast. We got our beer. Got back home. Poker. Barbecue. Good weekend. But still, parking etiquette should be taught to these new drivers.

We were on cruising on the streets of New York just near the Brooklyn Bridge, and as we pass by the exit that you should take if you are taking the bridge, the traffic comes to a crawl to a stand still. Well I know it is pretty normal to see these streets to be like a big parking lot most of the time but it was pretty weird that our lane was not moving while those on the right were somehow able to move. I knew there must be blood or something on the road ahead.

Minutes have been wasted and my watch screaming that I will be late for a late afternoon meet up. You cannot do anything but just expect some accident or major trouble on the road, then lo and behold, we see a big construction machine on a snail pace cruise.

If my stare can only do something like lift that construction worker and his machine of the roads of New York so we can zoom to wherever we are going. The guy was not even looking around and I am pretty sure a lot of people that drove pass him have screamed some curses.

Oookaaaay….

I’m heading to Vegas in a couple weeks for the World Series of Poker and to get some business done in Las Vegas (which is one of the US cities where our company is very active and has loads of interests) — and now my friend who was joining me skipped the trip… That means flying alone, eating alone and doing much more stuff alone while in Sin City.

Oh well!
